Los Angeles, CA – October 10, 2024 – Legacy Connections Films is proud to announce the world premiere of their documentary "Belonging in the USA: The Story of Alicia & Antonio", directed and produced by award-winning filmmaker Arielle Nóbile. This compelling film will be showcased on November 2, 2024, from 12:35 PM to 1:35 PM PDT at 801 E 4th Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90013.
The Story of Alicia & Antonio chronicles the remarkable journey of Alicia Partnoy and Antonio Leiva, who fled the horrors of Argentina's military dictatorship in the late 1970s and early 1980s. After enduring imprisonment and torture for their dedication to social justice, they sought refuge in the United States, where they have since built a new life while remaining committed to raising awareness for human rights.
This documentary challenges common misconceptions about refugees and asylum seekers, illuminating the resilience of the human spirit in the face of tyranny. Alicia and Antonio’s story is not only one of survival but also of love, family, and the search for belonging. The film invites viewers to reconsider their perceptions of borders and what it truly means to belong.
The Story of Alicia & Antonio is the second installment in the Belonging in the USA trilogy, which aims to build radical empathy and radical love through revolutionary listening. Each film in the series focuses on the life story of individuals or families, encouraging viewers to engage deeply with the narratives of their neighbors. This trilogy is a call to explore our shared humanity and confront the traumas that divide us, fostering meaningful conversations about what it means to belong in today’s society.
